- Let's start off by having you tell everyone a little bit about yourself.
I was born in BC Canada, and have lived in both Alberta and British Columbia
my entire life. My hobbies are weight training, travelling, cooking, and
writing. I have produced videos on 'how to dance', as well as a documentary
on breast augmentation. Recently I have been on the cover of Muscle Mag
International, and will have three layouts in Muscle & Fitness Magazine's
June issue.
- Looking over your website it looks like you've done accomplished quite
a bit. Let's start with fitness. How and when did you discover working
out? What drove you to keep your body in excellent physical condition?
When I was in grade 8 (1989) we learned the basics of weight training and I
had my grandma buy me dumbells . I would train in my room at home, not
really knowing what I was doing for about an hour a night.
Later, in 1994, when I began working as a dancer, I joined a gym. From
dancing, I had lost 20 pounds, going from 138 - 108 and I wanted to keep the weight off.
Today I am toned, and lean at 115, and I know I will stay around this weight.
My motivation is my mother who is 5'6" and not the weight you are
expecting to read. She is about 250 pounds.
- Looking over pictures from your site it looks like you go from a more
muscled and toned look to a softer look quite easily. Do you ever focus
on one body composition over the other or just go with what you feel
like at the time? Which do you prefer?
As you now know, my genitics can easily go in the direction my mothers has.
I prefer to be lean all the time, but that's not realistic. Training twice
a day and eating extremely clean for months on end can drive you mad, so
I take time to live a 'normal life' when I can.
- What advice can you give other women and even men who want to
get into shape and look and feel healthy?
Take your time with your goal, and know that visual results will show
in the second month of any diet. Weight training (or any exersise) and clean
eating is a lifestyle, not a quick fix that will last forever. If you train a
little each day, you will feel (and look) better as time goes on. Our body
is opposite of a car. The more we push ourselves and put on mileage (rather
then sit around), the younger we will feel and the longer we will live.
- Something else I've noticed is that you've done a good deal of
acting both stage and screen. Which do you prefer?
Live theater is a wonderful rush, but I also enjoy working in film and
televsion. Both are very hard work, especialy when it comes to say no to
craft services (table of food on film sets). If I had to choose I
would opt for film and tv work. The pay is better and you can enjoy the show
also.
- I was a big fan of the X-Files and Millennium. They were two of
my favorite shows and believe it or not I remember seeing you in those
episodes. What was it like working on such high profile television series?
That's great - glad you remember me in those small parts!
Since they were shot in Vancouver (my home at the time) I didn't think
to much of it, but if I had to fly to LA or NY for work, then it would
have felt like a bigger deal.
Looking back now I can see how lucky I was to be working. Most people
get 1 in 25 audtions, though I had a lucky couple of years where I was
getting 1 in 3.
The casting directors where 'on my side' also, and would contact me
directly for audtions.
- Any movies or televisions shows in the works we should kep an
eye out for?
In 2000 I shot a movie in Prague, Czech Rep where I was the lead character.
It should be released as: Age of Innocence - White Slave Secrets. Not sure
if it will make it to the USA though. The USA is still waiting for
Dakota Bound, which I shot there the year before, and it has been released in
Europe as: White Slave Lovers.
